French 25e Ligne - Wagram 1809

Regiment of the Day

Another regiment for III Corps - this one is the 25e Ligne, which fought as part of 3rd Division, at Wagram 1809.

4 bases of line infantry, with 1 skirmisher. Out of interest, 25e ligne was down to around 1500 men at Wagram (3 bases), as a few companies  were siphoned off to '4th Division' to pad out Desailly's brigade.
Other than that, nothing too remarkable here ... they look exactly like all my other French line units from the same Corps :)

Yet another regiment ready for the tabletop to get III Corps up to strength.

  1. And what wrong with uniform "uniforms", LOL?

If you want a little color, you can give the drummers some variant uniforms as you doubtless already know.

  2. Thanks for the comments.

Drummers uniforms - do you know when they moved to having green jackets with chevrons down the sleeves ? Not so sure about 1809 for these, let alone some of the earlier campaigns.

Still, good idea though, so I might have a play with that. Looking at the SYW French, the drummers were dressed to the colonel's whim of the day it seems, so its not unlike that tradition continued on into the next century.
