1813 Russians in field cap

Russians in field caps - 1813

Some later (1812+) Russians in a mix of uniforms and field caps, shown here advancing in Closed Column.

Picked up a few bags of mixed of OG Russians in field caps from the TMP marketplace. Ended up with about 100 figures in this lot.

OG always have a good mix of animations and poses in the bag, so they are quite useful to  create fill in bases to pad out a growing army.

Time to splash some paint on them and get them on the gaming table.

Representing a standard battalion of the period, the gaming stats for these guys are :

Troop Type:  I  (Line Infantry)

Grade(s):
30% - Veteran / No Skirmisher
20% - Regular / No Skirmisher
50% - Conscript / No Skirmisher

Battalion Size:
2 Bases (Vet / Regular)
3 Bases (Conscript)

Deployment :  100-150 yds frontage

Semi Skirmish: n/a
Full Skirmish:  n/a

StreetFight Rating: Excellent
Poor Musket / Powder:  Minor negative modifier for all shooting

Drill Book:
- March Column
- Closed Column
- Regimental Mass (2 Battalions as 1 single unit)
- Hasty Square

Additions to Drill Book for Veteran or Regular Only :
- Attack Column - Line
- Square

Attack Column

Line

Square

1-Company Wide March Column

Regiment of 2 Battalions in Closed Column, spaced out at Deployment Distance to allow for extension into Line Formation.

This is how Veteran or Regular units would deploy.

For Conscript units, they would advance in 'Regimental Mass', being an unwieldy blob of 2 deeply deployed units in mutual support.  The ultimate cannon fodder !

OG figures are great value for what you get.

They are literally a mixed bag in terms of figures. Some of the poses and quality of castings can be a little odd ... whilst at the same time some of the attention to detail is superb.

The mix of poses though works really well once you start accumulating a mass of figures ... which is where the OG line really shines.

  1. I am a fan of Old Glory figures - they have character. These ones have come up really well.

  2. The troops in forage cap make an interesting and much needed variation for the late Russian infantry, and these lok great. I am also a fan of Old Glory (25's), especially when building armies!
